Black Eye
(click for site!)

Black Eye formed in August
2003 with the intent of making accessible (but yet
somewhat challenging) aggressive metal. Comprised of
James (vocals), Graham (guitar), Mark (guitar), Alex
(bass) and Nick (drums), the band were spawned from
the ashes of short lived local metal band John Doe,
who featured Graham, Alex and Nick in their ranks.
James stepped up to do lead vocals and Mark joined
soon after, first as second vocalist then moving
onto second guitarist. Compared to Pantera, Opeth,
Nevermore and Mastodon, in their short history,
Black Eye have been gigging around the local scene
relentlessly, playing alongside bands such as Gilla
Bruja, Aconite Thrill, Skindred, Defenestration,
Killing Mode and many more. With each gig they have
steadily been getting more recognition, and an EP on
the way should lead to a bright future for the band.

The Beginning:
Year Formed: 1997
Location: Brighton, UK
A band born from the ‘Brighton metal scene’ fuelled by anger
and hatred for the un-spirited and the disbelieving. Vocalist
Hybrid immigrated from gangland trouble in Brazil to the UK and
shortly after recruited what was to become 'Killing Mode'
Consistently searching to create the most intense and
ferocious sounds, the band’s line up has seen many changes since
it’s formation and the current line up is: Hybrid on vocals,
George Pacifico on guitar, John Hill on the second guitar, Steve
Moses on bass and Zack O’Neil on drums
The band has worked with Paul Siddens (Napalm Death, Crowbar,
Cathedral) for its first release “Vale Tudo!!”and has toured the
UK with support slots with bands including The Damned, Candiria,
Lost Prophets, Raging Speed Horn, Stamping Ground, Dillinginer
Escape Plan, One Minute Silence and Mudvayne. Since that George
& Hybrid have collaborated in recording and producing Killing
Mode’s next releases “Shrine Of the Dead”, “Consolidate” and
“Maximum Hostility Level” and 2003 & 2004 Killing Mode have
share the stage with bands Gorerotted, Pungent Stench,
Incantation, Malevolent Creation, Hellborn & Mastodon.
6 of the bands tunes are included on the soundtrack of the
new Brit-Manga film ‘The Dominator’. The film has been
commissioned by Universal TV and will be shown on The SCI-FI
channel this September in many territories within the world. The
film is tipped to be a huge success starring Doug Bradley (Pin
Head – Hellraiser Films), Mark & Lard (Radio One), and Dani
Filth (cradle of Filth).

It is now the summer of 2004 and Killing Mode are now set to
deliver grievous sonic harm to the masses.
Subsyst
(click for site!)
Subsyst's beginnings were
established in 2002, when Amir Razavi got together with Justin
Small and began planning a band. Together they brought in
various musicians from the local scene and began writing
material. It wasn't long before both were looking for a
different line up and begun searching first for a vocalist.
Tony Hardwick joined Subsyst in
early 2003 as a vocalist and was followed shortly after by Lee
Cassidy. The band continued working on material and their sound
before they making their live debut in Brighton in May 2003.
After the first 2 gigs the offers
for other appearances came rolling the band's way and allowed
Subsyst to play in all the major local venues. This continued
until in late 2003 Subsyst parted ways with their bassist and
began to look for a replacement. However, after less than a
couple of weeks Tony took up bass duties and solved the problem.
The band finished off the year by playing a handful of gigs with
the new 4-piece line up.
Fresh Start
At start of 2004 the band begun working on new material, phasing
the older material out and replacing it with newer music that
reflected the new line up more. The shift in direction was
becoming more apparent as each member brought in their own
styles to the music. The songs were becoming more progressive,
and darker and heavier. The bands technical and death metal
influences were becoming more pronounced. And so in mid 2004 the
band begun to look for a new vocalist to better work with the
new material.
Jamie Griffiths was then added to
line up and worked with the band for over half a year, playing
two live performances and recording the band's debut three-track
ep.
However, Subsyst and Jamie parted ways in September 2004 and the
band recruited Dimitri Savathrakis as the new vocalist.
The band are now working hard for a
bright future.
